About

For those who have wandered in accidentally and have no idea who I am (and there’s no reason you should) I have pasted in my short bio from the Practical Karate Association website. You can also find me as “Redfish Applied Karate” on Face Book.

“Bob originally started training Shotokan karate back in 1978 under Paul Perry at the Jin Sei Kai dojo in Watford but family life caught up in 1980 and he took long break in training. He trained traditional Japanese Jujitsu under Jim Robinson in the early 90s for a short while but returned to serious Shotokan training in 1999 and graded to 1st Dan in 2003. He graded to 3rd Dan in 2011 (but by that time had started to move away from “classical” training to follow a more pragmatic path) and made the step to 4th Dan in 2017. For the last 5 years or so he has continued his applied karate training under a number of top instructors and has organised, attended and taught at a number of “pragmatic” events in recent years. He is also a fully qualified holistic massage therapist with specialisations in deep tissue therapy. Bob is also a member of the International Seito Karate Kenkyukai (I.S.K.K.)

Bob runs the Redfish Applied Karate clubs in both Rickmansworth and Croxley Green and can regularly be seen at the Practical Karate Association’s classes at High Wycombe too. He has an enhanced CRB/DBS, is first aid qualified and fully insured.
